Check out my woodturning channel: @MidnightArtWoodturning
In this video I am restoring another item from the rust bucket, a mini jewelers anvil that was missing a stand.
It is a simple restoration, with some basic rust removal and polishing and then woodturning a wooden stand for it.
The stand was inspired by an antique jewelers anvil from France.

Rust Bucket Restoration - Episode 2
Переглядів 11 тис.Місяць тому
Continuing the rust bucket series, what will we restore in episode 2? Another flea market find, for which I've paid $1. What might it be? Well, since no one reads the description anymore, I might as well tell you: It's an old, sturdy Crescent pipe wrench, made in the USA. I know it's not the most spectacular object to restore, and I know wrenches have been restored in plenty of videos, but I've...
Rust Bucket Restoration - WEEK 1
Переглядів 18 тис.2 місяці тому
Going back to my roots, in this video I'm restoring an antique pruning knife, the kind used in vineyards before the invention of pruning shears. I have a full bucket of rusty antique tools that I inherited from my grandfather or that I have bought from flea markets. If you like this video I hope to turn it into a series. Also I am experimenting with a new camera, please let me know if the video...
Using a laser to make tools and jigs - xTool P2
Переглядів 7 тис.2 місяці тому
I'm not much of a fan of decorative woodworking, I'm more like a guy that loves tools for what they are: tools, practical objects that have a purpose, a job to do. So I've been planning to use the laser to make tools and jigs from the first moment I've got it and now the time has come. In this video I'm making a few jigs that will be used in my workshop: - a sandpaper file - a circle finding to...

xTool P2 CO2 Laser Cutter Test & Review
Переглядів 12 тис.8 місяців тому
If you are interested in this machine here's a link to it: www.xtool.com/products/xtool-p2-55w-co2-laser-cutters?ref=o4QMq9wzwpmBOC& xTool sent me this CO2 laser cutter free of charge to make a few videos about it. I have full creative freedom and can state my honest opinion. So far I like this machine a lot better than the diode laser. Only the fact that it can engrave and cut acrylic it makes...

Making a Japanese Shoji Lamp - ATEZR L2 Laser Engraver
Переглядів 8 тис.9 місяців тому
ATEZR offered me this laser that can cut or engrave many of the materials I use in the workshop: atezr.com/products/atezr-l2-36w-laser-engraver I've never owned or operated a laser engraver before, but I am really happy with this one. And I'm not saying that just because they sent me this machine, but because it opens my workshop up to a world of possibilities, with cutting all kinds of wood an...
Old German Bench Grinder Restoration
Переглядів 20 тис.10 місяців тому
Patreon www.patreon.com/TheSmallWorkshop (Behind The Scenes) Restoring an old German bench grinder that I thought will be an easy fix and a coat of paint and it turned out to be a hundred little things that needed attention. Since the bench grinder was already working I did not do much on the mechanical side, but the wiring was in poor shape and needed a complete overhaul.
Making A Vintage Plumb Bob
Переглядів 54 тис.Рік тому
Patreon www.patreon.com/TheSmallWorkshop (Behind The Scenes) This is a simple project, made on the wood lathe. I wanted to recreate a vintage plumb bob. And I wanted to do it for a practical reason, I am renovating part of my house and I can't seem to find two bubble levels to show me the same vertical, so I thought this ancient technology could be used to calibrate the levels.
Antique Rusty Wrench Restoration
Переглядів 107 тис.Рік тому
Patreon www.patreon.com/TheSmallWorkshop (Behind The Scenes) I got this old, rusty adjustable wrench from my father in law. He was using as it was and had no problem that it was rusted and had no handle. It's probably more than 100 years old. First I removed the loose rust using water and then vinegar and then the makers mark became visible. Goldenberg, an old German tool company, I think. Afte...

Кот гопник - горе в семье
Nice letter opener
Curious, I know it's spring steel and likely very tough to bend, but would there be any benefit to welding the eye closed to make it one piece? I would worry flexing the eye with the handle would loosen it up over time. Otherwise great video!
You are absolutely right! I ended up welding the eye because it came loose after a couple of uses.

Isn't this actually called an ASO (Anvil shaped object), as anvil are a lot bigger than this and also weigh a huge amount too. ASO and anvil are common misunderstandings.
You lost me there mate! I've never heard of ASO. Part of me feels like you are joking. Everywhere I've looked they are called jewelers anvils.
@@TheSmallWorkshop anvils are all a standard size and weight, if it looks like an anvil, but isn't that size and weight, then they're technically classed as an anvil shaped object (ASO). This was told to me by some blacksmiths that I used to know, as well as an instructor at a farming college. A lot of people don't realise that anvils are a certain size and weight.
What kind of file is that?

Now that the handle and ferule are gone, just grind that blade into dust, replace that and your "restoration" will be perfect. I'm kidding, of course. Your skill took that useless $2 thing and made it a useful kitchen item again.
😮😮😮
😂😂😂❤
Its terrific that this guy is sharing his knowledge expertise and technical skill for the betterment of humanity. The environmentalists will love these devices as they are silent and there is also no noise pollution. What more can you ask for?
